In A Worn Path, Phoenix faces several obstacles as she makes her way toward her destination, but she continues because she has an important reason for completing her journey. Think about a time when you had to travel somewhere or work through obstacles to reach a destination or goal. What challenges did you face along the way? Was the journey worth it in the end? Explain why or why not.
Response: A time where I travelled somewhere and work through obstacles to reach a destination was when one of my best friends was particularly upset, and I wanted to bring her something to cheer her up. The issue was that she lived kind of far away and the drive in itself to her house was already very long. I don't have my license so I had my brother drive me. Problems arose when we realized that the ice cream shop I wanted to go to was in the other direction after we had already been driving for a while. I insisted that we go get it anyway because I knew it was her favorite ice cream. In the end it was worth it even though we drove much longer than expected. This is because I wanted to perform a thoughtful gesture for my friend and in turn it made her feel cared for.
